During the May meeting of the Leavenworth County Fair Board, the fair board voted to cancel all entertainment and commercial events for the 2020 Leavenworth County Fair, due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. We understand that this decision affects a lot of people in our county, and it was not taken lightly. We appreciate your understanding and support as we work thru these unprecedented times. The fair board also made a commitment to work with the Leavenworth County Extension office to provide an opportunity for all 4-H/FFA participants to have their 2020 projects judged at the Leavenworth County fairgrounds. After consultation with state, county, and city officials it was determined that the traditional 2020 fair would not be possible with current and expected social distancing requirements. The fair board felt it needed to make the determination to cancel parts of the fair at this time in order to investigate alternatives to the traditional displays and judging of 4-H/FFA projects. As the plans come together around the 2020 4-H projects, communications will be provided by the Leavenworth County Extension office. Any 4-H questions or comments should be directed to the Leavenworth County Extension office at www.leavenworth.k-state.edu and/or K-State Research & Extension- Leavenworth County Facebook page. Currently, there are no plans for open class exhibits/displays for 2020. The fair board may also need to limit spectators during any activity held at the fairgrounds based on health department recommendations in affect at the time of the activity. The fair board will investigate providing online streaming of selected activities to the general public. There will be no camping allowed on the fairgrounds. Please check our website https://www.leavenworthcountyfair.com/ and/or Leavenworth County Fair Facebook page for additional information as it becomes available.
The fairgrounds can be reached from Leavenworth by traveling west on U.S. 24/40 through Tonganoxie, KS, to the K-16 intersection. Turn right on K-16 and go about a quarter mile to the fair entrance on the right side of the road.
